It is with great sadness that Tough Mudder mourns the loss of fellow Mudder℠ Jarod Cravens, but it is with Mudder pride and love that we remember him.

On October 8, 2011, Jarod Cravens participated in the Tough Mudder Texas Central; on October 29th, he was killed by a suicide bombing in Afghanistan.

Jarod enlisted in the Marines after graduating from high school and was honorably discharged after 8 years. While in the service and stationed in San Diego, he received the Navy Commendation Medal for
saving the life of a young boy who was drowning.
Following the Marines Jarod joined the National Guard and then, after he left the service, Jarod became a contractor supporting U.S. military troops in Afghanistan. Jarod felt as though he was able to continue giving himself to the fight for freedom he so strongly believed, while also providing for the family he adored. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, and their young children, Brady and Samantha.
Team Cravens will honor Jarod’s memory at Tough Mudder Dallas 2012 and will receive a Tough Mudder Most Respect Award on his behalf.
