THINGS TO SIGN

EVENT RELATED FACILITIES

  • Questions: The Info Desk is located at the entrance. Here, we will answer all your questions, but please don’t overwhelm us with pleas to change start times.
  • Buy Stuff: There will be ATMs located at the entrance, but we recommend you come with a pocket full of cash.
  • Bag Drop: There will be a Bag Drop facility located on site. We recommend participants bring their own bag.
  • Feed Yourself: Food and beverages will be on sale throughout the day of the event. You can find these at the concessions area inside the Party Zone and barbecues and grills outside near the finish area. Vegetarian food will also be available.
  • Relieve Yourself: Portable toilets for participants and spectators are located throughout the property.
  • Lost & Found: If you find anything, please, be a model citizen and turn it in at the Bag Drop. If you lose something check at the Bag Drop. TMHQ takes all unclaimed items at the end of the day, so if the Info Desk doesn’t have it, you should send us an email (info@toughmudder.com). We don’t recommend that you try stopping by, we’re like the CIA – you won’t be able to find us. Anything that sits in TMHQ for over 30 days goes straight to the Salvation Army. If you have lost an item you must contact Tough Mudder. No prank phone calls please.
  • Meeting Point Sky Flag: Misplaced a loved one? Can’t find your friends? Don’t panic. Head to the Meeting Point Flag located in the registration area. Use this spot as a rendezvous point to find your lost buds or to be found by them!

Registration

Firstly, Registration opens on Saturday at 7:00 am and Sunday at 7:00 am. You should allow about 2 hours for parking and registering. Registration will close Saturday at 1:00 pm and Sunday at 10:30 am.

Participant registration is a three step process. Follow these simple rules and you will fly through; ignore these rules and you will be walking around like a goat with a bag on its head.

STEP 1: Sign your DEATH WAIVER! To save time on event day download, print off, and sign your waiver here, and bring it with you to registration.

Step 2: Packet Pick Up. After you have your signed waiver in hand proceed to packet pick up. There will be lines organized alphabetically by last name. Please don’t forget your last name. Here you will get:

  • Your very own participant pack with your name on it! This will contain: 4 safety pins, 1 bib and 2 wristbands.

GREEN is your participant band that goes on your WRIST.

PINK is your bag drop tag that goes ON YOUR BAG.

  • If you are 21 or over, you will also receive an ORANGE Dos Equis wristband so that you can claim your beer.

Step 3: Face-marking: We write on your forehead in permanent marker (and anywhere else you think it might be “necessary”). Fairly self-explanatory, right? You must have your bib number on your forehead and either your arm or leg (and anywhere else you want to tag yourself). This is how we identify you for pictures and, Mudder forbid, in case of serious injury.

All participants must bring a valid government issued photo I.D. to registration and will be required to sign a liability waiver (read Death Waiver). If you do not sign the waiver, you cannot start the event. To save time on event day print off and sign the waiver here, and bring it with you to registration.

Start Times:
Groups of 500 start every 20 minutes beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday and groups of 400 start everyone 20 minutes beginning at 9:00 am Sunday. You can find your start time by clicking either SATURDAY START TIMES or SUNDAY START TIMES. If you registered after 1/4/12, you can find your start times on the Tough Mudder website (1) week before the event. It will also be on the packet you pick up at registration.

Wherever possible, participants have been assigned to the closest available start time that they requested when registering for the event. However, due to demand, participants may find that they are not in the Start Group time they had requested. Please do not contact us requesting a time change.

**There WILL be a costume contest at 10:00 AM each day.
The winner WILL win a season pass. Plan your outfits and start times accordingly.**

Military Discounts:
If you received a military discount when you registered, you MUST have your military ID with you on event day or this discount cannot be honored.

Wounded Warrior Project
Volunteers will be collecting donations on-site at the Bag Check and the Info Desk.

Course Info

Details of the terrain and obstacles throughout the course are located here

Course Safety Warning:

The course is designed to be very difficult and the terrain is at times muddy, slippery, and potentially dangerous. You will be wet after the first mile, and you MUST be able to swim more than fifty yards if you attempt the Walk the Plank obstacle. If you do not feel comfortable completing any obstacle, DO NOT attempt it; simply continue on to the next obstacle. But really, what do you think you signed up for, Warrior Dash?

Course Sweep: At 4:30 PM, all participants who have not reached the ½ way mark will be escorted off the course by the First-Aid team.

Electroshock Therapy does conduct a shock of 10,000 volts: Please be advised that this obstacle is dangerous if you have certain health conditions, epilepsy, or a pacemaker.

There will be drinking water at four different locations throughout the course and another at the finish. Participants are encouraged to supplement this with personal hydration systems as well.

Heat sheets will be available throughout the course and at the Finish Area. Shiny side goes on the inside. We can’t tell you how many people put these things on the wrong way

Equipment & Clothing

What to Wear:

  • Normal running shoes. We DO NOT recommend you buying a brand spanking new pair of pumped up kicks for this event; shoes get muddy, because you are running through mud. Your sweet new Nikes will end up here:
  • Gloves
  • Hat
  • Warm/dry clothing to change into after the race.
  • Hydration system – FILLED WITH WATER, not cerveza. Note: Again, there will be water stations.
  • Costumes and anything creative. We have yet to see anything more impressive than the Avatards, but we keep wishing and hoping and dreaming that this day will come.

What NOT to wear:

  • You CANNOT wear spikes or cleats during the event. There will be an inspection at the Start Area—and when we catch you, trust us, we’ll make it embarrassing that you tried to defy the mighty Mudder.

Shameless Self Promotion:

Tough Mudder branded performance apparel brought to you exclusively by Team Retail Solutions. You can purchase all items here. TRS will also have a large selection of items on sale outside in a retail tent near the Finish Area. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

Post-Party & Awards

The Post-Party is a key component of the Tough Mudder experience. Bands and DJs will be playing live music throughout the afternoon. It is kind of like Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve. But it’s not a new year, and it’s not nighttime, and there is no Dick Clark. Kick back and celebrate what will probably be the greatest accomplishment of your life. Unless you make it to World’s Toughest Mudder, that is.

Carnival of Tough:

We will also have an Arm Wrestling Contest, Push Up Contest, and Shoot the Boot drinking contest on stage in the post party. Bring your toughness. Get yourself on the top of the leader board and win a free season pass!

Timing:

If you wish to record your time to be eligible to enter the World’s Toughest Mudder, you can do so after the event through the online survey located on the Arizona event page on our website. It is your responsibility to remember your time.

Tough Mudder Respect Awards:

Special awards are given to participants who have completed the race after overcoming serious illness, injury or misfortune. If you feel that one of your Team Members deserves recognition, please email info@toughmudder.com.

Tough Mullet & Mohawks:

Free head-shaves will be available on-site. Participants are encouraged to get a Mullet or a Mohawk. Warning: We have hired professional hair dressers, to come out and make your hair a masterpiece–be sure to take advantage. That said, we are not liable for if you look incredibly ugly.

Tough Mudder Tattoos:

Participants interested in getting a Tough Mudder tattoo can do so on site in the post party area. They will be available for $70. Send us your receipt and we’ll give you a free entry to a Tough Mudder of your choice in 2011.

Carnival of Tough

Get pumped before and after you hit the course with our Celebrity Keg Toss (See if you’re tough enough to take on Bieber!) Earning a well-deserved beer in the process only makes it better, huh?

We will also have an Arm Wrestling Contest and Push Up Contest on stage in the post party. Bring your toughness. Get yourself on the top of the leader-board and win a free season pass!

Photography

When you’re on the course watch out for those guys in blue vests wielding cameras with over-sized lenses. They work for Brightroom, Tough Mudder’s official event photographers. You can expect to be photographed a minimum of 14 times – more than that if you are an expert photo bomber – and Brightroom will be taking official team photos after you crawl across the finish line.

To ensure that you get to see all these amazing photos make sure you have your bib number clearly visible. This is the only way that we will be able to identify you after the event – trust us, Brightroom will be so busy taking amazing pictures that they won’t have time to keep track of names.

Photos will be available to purchase online on Brightroom’s website within 72 hours of the event. There will also be a link from our website at www.ToughMudder.com/photos.
