Boston: Sat June 1 & Sun June 2, 2013
EVENT UPDATES
PARKING ADVISORY
All parking will be off-site: no drop-offs, no exceptions.
There is no parking or drop-offs at Gunstock Mountain Resort – law enforcement has warned that they’ll be looking out for illegal parkers and monitoring traffic. We don’t want any of our Mudders missing out on a chance at Tough Mudder Boston 2013.
Participants and spectators will be shuttled from New Hampshire Motor Speedway to Gunstock Mountain Resort, a 25-minute ride. Shuttle buses will be running throughout the day.
IMPORTANT: HEAT ADVISORY
Unless you’ve been in a cave training all week, you’ll already know that it is going to be hot in Boston this Saturday. Maximum temperatures in the low 90s are expected, with high humidity. Slightly lower temperatures and rain are expected on Sunday.
Sun Protection:
Make sure that you are taking the appropriate steps to protect yourself from the sun. There is little to no shade on the course, and we recommend that you:
- Apply ample sunscreen
- Wear a hat or visor
- Bring a hydration system filled with water
- Wear a T-shirt rather than going shirtless. By wearing a T-shirt, you’ll be able to keep it wet, which will help cool you
Asthma and Allergies:
For those of you who suffer with asthma, be aware that the heat can complicate the situation. In addition, the course is cut through wheat fields, which can aggravate any allergies. Please bring all necessary supplies you will need.
Water Stations:
There are 6 water stations along the course. Please take the time to rest and hydrate at these stations. If you are feeling any effects of the heat, please seek medical assistance at any of these stations.
This is a Challenge not a Race:
There is no need to break land speed records at Tough Mudder. We don’t care how fast or how slow you go. Take your time out there and rest when needed. Take it easy, Mudders.

Lodging
Tough Mudder offers a range of official hotel options for our events. For Tough Mudder discounted rates, and to stay with your fellow Mudders, book your hotel here.
An update for all Mudders℠ who were expecting this event to be held on May 11 & 12: Our search for the perfect venue has led us to Gunstock Mountain – a perfect piece of land on which to build all the new obstacles we’ll be using to kick your ass. Gunstock wasn’t able to host us on the original dates, so we’ve moved the event to June 1 & 2.
Start Time
If you are registered as an individual, you will select your preferred start time during online registration. If you are registered with a team, only the team captain will select a preferred start time. Please note, although we do our best to accommodate this preference, it is not a guarantee. You will be emailed your assigned start time within a week of the event.
Post Party & Awards
The fun doesn’t stop when you finish the Tough Mudder obstacle course. Big Mudder throws a killer postparty consisting of live music, contests, awards, and of course the carnival of tough. Check out our post party & awards page for more details!
Tough Mudder Tattoos

At most events, Tough Mudder will be offering tattoos of our badass logo to all finishers who want to commemorate their epic achievement. Once you get inked, fill out a tattoo registration entry form to get free entry into a Tough Mudder event of your choice! Please note: Some venues don’t allow tattoos to be done on site. If this is the case, we encourage participants to get Tough Mudder tattoos at local tattoo parlors.

Event Photos
MarathonFoto is our official event photographer – they will be taking action shots of you throughout the Tough Mudder course, so make sure your bib number is clearly visible! There will be three designated Photo Zones throughout the course – look for the “Photo Zone” signs to ensure your picture is taken! Photos will be available online for viewing and purchasing the week after the event. Can’t wait? We understand. Check out some of our previous event photos.
Spectators
Online spectator registration is now closed. Day of spectator registration will be available on site for $40 CASH ONLY.
World’s Toughest Mudder
Is 10-12 miles of Tough Mudder grit somehow not enough for you? World’s Toughest Mudder® is the culminating event of the Tough Mudder calendar and takes the concept of being a Tough Mudder to a whole new level. This extreme competition puts the world’s most hardcore Mudders℠ through a grueling 24-hour challenge designed to find the toughest man, woman, and 4-person team on the planet.
How to qualify:
If you’re crazy enough to think that 24 hours of torture sounds like fun, then you’re eligible.
Previously, we’ve asked people to qualify by submitting their times from a Tough Mudder during the season. But the fact is that this year, you’re not going to be competing on a normal Tough Mudder course – we’re going to be feeding you something even more intense, with more obstacles per mile. So how fast you can run isn’t as important – what really matters is how much pain you can push through.
