Tough Mudder is not the average work place, and we don’t employ average people.
We only hire from within – everyone on our team starts in our 6-10 week paid internship program (excluding senior level management positions) after which we decide whether or not to make a permanent offer. Don’t let this scare you away – almost every intern we’ve hired has been offered a full time role and interns receive $300-$1000 per week and up to $500 per month for health care. All team members must be authorized to work in the U.S.
You’ll learn more in 2 months at Tough Mudder than you did in 2 years at your old job and will have real responsibilities from day one. Forget about getting coffee or making copies – you’ll be negotiating with vendors, brainstorming new marketing strategies, and traveling to planning meetings across the country. You’ll work alongside an incredibly talented group of 35 all-stars with backgrounds in everything from banking, trading, law, tech, construction, events, sports business and more.
Most importantly, you’ll be working in a place where we take our work seriously, but not ourselves. There’s a sense of humor about TMHQ that you won’t find at other companies and we’ve been profiled by the NY Times as a place that “exudes Gen Y cool”. Our offices are in DUMBO Brooklyn – the home of New York’s creative industry where we’re surrounded by start-ups, studios, and countless other innovative young companies.
Tough Mudder University
One of the best things about working at Tough Mudder is the company’s dedication to professional development. Everyone at TMHQ is automatically enrolled in Tough Mudder University which aims to replicate the Harvard Business School education of our founder and CEO Will Dean. Not only does Will share all he has learned but also quite literally brings HBS to Tough Mudder, as the team reads monthly HBS case studies and participates in mock HBS classes.
Tough Mudder Ventures
We’re doing amazing things at Tough Mudder, both as entrepreneurs and for entrepreneurs. One of our newer initiatives, Tough Mudder Ventures, is a start-up funding program that will provide competitive seed funding, office space, mentoring, and more to select former Tough Mudder employees who launch their own ventures.
