World’s Toughest Mudder: November 16 & 17, 2013

Event Information

World’s Toughest Mudder® is the culminating event of the Tough Mudder calendar and takes the concept of being a Tough Mudder to a whole new level. This extreme competition puts the world’s most hardcore Mudders℠ through a grueling 24-hour challenge designed to find the toughest man, woman, and 4-person team on the planet.

WTM2013_horiz_small_Start

Competitors have 24 hours to log as many miles on an amped-up Tough Mudder course as they can. At the 24-hour mark, all competitors must complete the lap they are on and the winners will be whichever participants have completed the most full laps. In the event that multiple participants complete the winner’s total number of laps, the winners will be whichever participants cross the finish line of the final lap first.

Unlike other Tough Mudder events, this event is a competition with cash prizes and other awards up for grabs.

WTM 2013 Eligibility

Before you consider entering World’s Toughest Mudder®, you must understand that only those in peak PHYSICAL and MENTAL condition should even think about this. This event will push you beyond your limits and is not for the weak of mind or body.

In previous years, we’ve asked people to qualify by submitting their times from a Tough Mudder during the season. But the fact is that this year, you’re not going to be competing on a normal Tough Mudder course – we’re going to be feeding you something even more intense, with more obstacles per mile. So how fast you can run isn’t as important – what really matters is how much pain you can push through.

In other words, if you’re crazy enough to think that 24 hours of torture sounds like fun, then you’re eligible. We’ll leave it up to the course to decide who the World’s Toughest Mudder® is.

Prizes

We know there are a lot of things that Mudders℠ care about more than cash, so we’ve taken a new approach to prizes this year. Sure, we’ve increased the cash prize purse to $60,000, and yes, we’ve made cash available to the top five men and women (and the top 3 teams) – but we’ve added a few more prizes to acknowledge all forms of badass on the WTM course:

Mileage Awards: presented to Mudders who complete a crazy number of miles

  • 40 miles
  • 60 miles
  • 100 miles

Exact awards for each mileage achievement are TBD.

Black Ops:

  • Most nighttime laps: Black WTM bib + WTM 2014 free entry

Fastest lap:

  • This award is self-explanatory: Green WTM bib + WTM 2014 free entry

Specialist Awards: one-of-a-kind recognitions of some of the amazing feats that happen during WTM, including:

  • World’s Oldest Mudder
  • Most money raised for WWP
  • Farthest traveled to get to WTM

Category Winners

If you’ve run farther than anyone else on Sunday morning, we’ll give you an orange WTM 2013 race bib and send you home with a big check (seriously – you’re going to need both hands to hold it):

Course Information

TMHQ is hard at work designing the course to end all obstacle courses. Competitors will run laps of a brutally difficult course featuring a healthy dose of the world’s most challenging obstacles. The winner will be the Mudder that completes the greatest number of laps in the 24-hour period.

WTM2013_horiz_BerlinWallsDusk

While WTM obstacles will remain a mystery until event weekend, qualifiers should expect the event to require cardiovascular stamina, brute strength, agility, dexterity, mental grit, and, most of all, a passion to prove yourself to be the Toughest Mudder on this good green Earth. You should also expect to encounter more obstacles per mile than on your typical Tough Mudder course – this is World’s Toughest Mudder, after all.

The event will feature an area called The Pit, where each competitor may set up a tent in order to sleep, eat, and warm up as they deem necessary. How you use The Pit is up to you – WTM is about strategy as much as determination.

We also know that no competitor does it alone. This year, we’ve designed an even better experience for your Support Crew of friends and family. Just because you’ll be tired and cold for 24 hours doesn’t mean they have to be. Stay tuned for more details.
