How do I register?
You click here. In previous years, we’ve asked people to qualify by submitting their times from a Tough Mudder during the season. But the fact is that this year, you’re not going to be competing on a normal Tough Mudder course – we’re going to be feeding you something even more intense, with more obstacles per mile. So how fast you can run isn’t as important – what really matters is how much pain you can push through.
In other words, if you’re crazy enough to think that 24 hours of torture sounds like fun, then you’re eligible. We’ll leave it up to the course to decide who the World’s Toughest Mudder® is.
How much does it cost?
Cost of entry for individuals is $450 per person plus a one-day insurance fee of $45, but we’ll be selling a limited number of registrations at $350 and $400. Sign up now to get the best deal.
Are there media entries?
Media entries will be given out on a case-by-case basis. To apply for a media participant entry, please email Ashley Fallick at Ashley_Fallick@dkcnews.com.
When does registration open and close?
Registration for World’s Toughest Mudder® 2013 is now open: click here. This event WILL SELL OUT. What are you waiting for?
Are there refunds on entry fees?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds on entry fees. Additionally, an entry spot may NOT be transferred to another competitor – don’t even think about scalping that registration.
What do I get with my entry fee?
Registered participants will get the chance to prove themselves on Probably the Toughest Course on the Planet, a commemorative WTM technical t-shirt (handed out at the event) – and the ability to say they’ve competed against the toughest people in the world.
Do I need to sign a Death Waiver?
Yes, you will need to sign a Death Waiver.
Can my friends and family watch?
Yes, absolutely. We’re very excited this year to announce free access to any member of your support crew. You just need them to register here (support crew registration will close one week before the event). Anyone else who decides last-minute to come out will be charged $10 on site for admission.
What is the event’s distance?
That depends on how tough you are. At World’s Toughest Mudder, there is no finish line. We look to our amazing Mudders to push themselves harder and log more miles than they thought possible in 24 hours.
What kind of obstacles will there be?
Obstacles will be kept a mystery until event weekend. However, participants should expect plenty of running, jumping, climbing, swimming and crawling (and of course, multiple electric shocks are not out of the question).
Is this a competition?
This event is a competition, with US $60,000 in cash prizes and a number of other awards up for grabs. Participants will be required to wear timing chips and will be subject to the event’s official rules. That said, participants are strongly encouraged to help each other make it through the course as with any Tough Mudder event. Bad Muddership will not be tolerated.
What if there is bad weather?
This is a rain or shine event. Because the event takes place in late autumn, participants should expect extremely harsh conditions, including severe cold.
I have a pre-existing medical condition; can I still compete?
All participants are strongly encouraged to consult their doctors before registering for this event.
What should I wear?
A recommended list of clothing and gear can be found here. Additional items must conform to the event’s official rules. If you have a question about the legality of a specific piece of clothing, contact our Customer Support team here.
Can I wear a wetsuit?
Wetsuits are allowed and strongly encouraged.
Will there be medics on site?
Yes, there will be dozens of qualified medical personnel throughout the course. In addition, there will be heated recovery tents located at the finish and at designated spots throughout the course.
Will there be drinking water on the course?
Yes, there will be water stations accessible at each mile of the course. Additionally, there will be select energy bars and gels in designated spots. Participants are encouraged to bring whatever additional food or energy bars they may need, which they can keep in their designated spot in The Pit.
Can I take a break during the event?
Yes, participants are strongly encouraged to rest as needed throughout the event, either in The Pit, or at warming stations throughout the course. It is up to each participant to determine when they should take a break, depending on their body’s needs and their race strategy. Note: participants will only be allowed to enter The Pit after finishing a complete lap. If participants enter The Pit any other time, they will be disqualified.
Can women compete?
The qualifications are the same for everyone – if you’re ready and willing to subject yourself to 24 hours of torture, you’re welcome to come prove yourself on our course. There will be male and female categories, each of which will have a $20,000 cash prize purse. Teams may be all-male, all-female, or coed.
How does the team competition work?
Mudders may select to compete as individuals or as part of a team of 4 or more. The team competition is a separate competition from the individual one. You must have at least four participants to qualify as a team and receive the team prize. Teams with fewer than four will be considered individuals, but are encouraged to still participate together.
What if I only have 3 members on my team?
Teams are welcome to compete even if they have fewer than 4 team members, but you must have four members to receive the team prize. If your team does not meet the four members quota before registration closes, each member will be considered a individual participant, though we still encourage you to conquer WTM together.
What if one team member gets hurt or tired?
Teams are only as good as their weakest team member—team laps only count if the entire team completes them as a unit. Any laps completed with less than a complete team will NOT be counted. If a team member withdraws from the competition or skips a lap, the team is no longer eligible to win the competition, but may continue if they wish. However, to win the team prize, all members must last the full 24 hours.
Can I quit the event before 24 hours is over?
Yes, participants are strongly encouraged to remove themselves from the event if they feel unwell. Note that a participant that does so will not be allowed to re-join the event.
I tend to get cold and tired very easily.
This event is probably not for you.
Can I raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project?
Yes, registered participants automatically have WWP fundraising pages created for them. All donations must be made online, and donors must designate their gift on behalf of a team or individual. Registered participants will have a personalized link in their confirmation email, which is automatically created for participants to supply to friends/family to donate. You can also search the name of the participant and then click the “support” button to be directed to the participant’s personalized page. Participants can view donations made to their name here. If you need your confirmation email resent, you can resend it by going to our Registration Center.
