Mudder: Jessie Noid
Age: 33
Origin: Eden Prairie, Minnesota
Legionnaire Status: 31 Tough Mudders and 1 World’s Toughest Mudder

I love all things that give you an adrenaline rush. Tough Mudder fuels that fire for me each and every time I complete a course. But in between jumping off the cliff jump at midnight, hanging out in Arctic Enema, and traversing the monkey bars I have had the honor of meeting the most amazing people in the world. I love when people share their stories with me and this has given me so many memories. The best thing is to see these new friends at different Mudder locations every weekend. I am so sad when the TM season is over but I always find unique ways to keep training- why else would I walk and carry a 40 lb bag of dog food a mile home? I have to find crazy ways to train in order to fill the void until my next adventure in the mud. I use the shot of endorphins and the continuous inspiration and motivation I get on and off the course in my every day life. My friends and family usually ask “Why do I always have to sign a waiver when we do things together?” Because “life starts at the end of your comfort zone.”

I love tough mudders. The pain. The sweat. The tears. The mud. There is a good reason I keep going back for more. No, I do not have a passion for torture. Instead, I find myself thriving in this community. I have found a place where I am surrounded by wonderful weirdos who share this love for life and encouraging others towards whatever goals they made for themselves. I found people who build me up, and help me through whatever hurdles I face. Whether the wall I find myself facing is metaphorical or physical, I know a fellow mudder will be there to give me a hand over it. Through the miles, the ice, the scrapes, the bumps, the mud, the shocks, the leaps, and the surprises… I bleed orange.

Tough Mudder was the first obstacle course race I did. That’s all it took for me to catch the bug. The distance is challenging and the obstacles are fantastic. I feel that my body is pushed, my mind is challenged and my confidence in myself, as well as others, grows. To see people working together encourages my belief that people, when challenged, come together to complete a greater task. The last TM I did will hold a special place with me. I brought friends as well as a client who wanted to prove at 50, she could reach way outside her comfort zone to complete her first Tough Mudder. It was an amazing experience to cross the finish line and witness her excitement.2015 was awesome and I believe 2016 is going to be an even greater year. I am looking forward to completing the World’s Toughest.

The thing about Tough Mudder I find unique is it really focuses on camaraderie through difficult challenges. There is no reward you can win during a race that is more important than gaining friends. The Tough Mudder Community has supported and pushed me through difficult challenges, whether it’s raising a large amount of money for Wounded Warrior, or partaking in World’s Toughest Mudder; I can always count on my mates.
