Charlie Boher's Holy Grail Journey

By TMHQ | April 3, 2019

The journey to the Holy Grail is the ultimate Tough Mudder challenge, with participants taking on Tougher, Toughest and World’s Toughest Mudder in just one year. For anyone, this is an incredible achievement but there is one member of the community that we feel deserves special recognition.

Charlie Boher is an architect from Midhurst and no stranger to extraordinary stories. As an amateur runner he landed himself a last minute spot in the London Marathon with no training and to his surprise found himself on the start line of the elite race with Paula Radcliffe. After such an incredible experience Charlie was hungry for a new challenge and ran his first ever Tough Mudder event.

Hooked on the unique combination of teamwork, physical and mental challenge and eager to continue challenging himself, he signed up to World’s Toughest Mudder in Las Vegas - realising only afterwards that he’d committed to a 24 hour race in the Nevada desert, in winter.

After completing the Las Vegas race, Charlie set out to take on the journey to the Holy Grail in 2018 and to become the total global mileage champion. To win the top spot, Charlie took part in Tough Mudder challenges around the world, from Australia to the USA and across the UK and Germany. This incredible feat saw Charlie clock up400 miles, and smash the previous record of 365 miles.

Charlie’s dedication and commitment to running Tough Mudder events hasn't just been for glory or personal achievement, along the way he has been passionate about raising money for James' Place, a charity dear to Charlie's heart. The charity was set up by the parents of his good friend James Wentworth-Stanley to raise awareness of anxiety, depression and suicide among young people.

From everyone at TMHQ and the wider OCR community, congratulations to Charlie on your incredible effort. We look forward to seeing you back out on the course and taking on obstacles in 2019.
