Thousands of people around the world have come through the Tough Mudder Volunteer Program, and we’re thankful for every single one of them. But there’s one Mudder who has gone beyond the call of duty for the past two years, spending countless hours of her free time to ensure that no Mudder gets left behind, in every sense of the term.

After her mother passed away from breast cancer, Chelsea Campbell, only a junior in high school, was called upon to take care of her mentally and physically handicapped sister, Alexis.

In a time when nothing in life seemed secure, the support of her local firehouse was the one constant in her life. So when the time came to rally a team for Tough Mudder 2015, choosing teammates for her dream team was a no brainer.

When he was a child, Rob Leboy remembers walking the neighborhood collecting cans with his grandfather, so they could afford to buy bread. The hardships Rob faced as a child weren’t just financial, however. Because of his low-income status, Rob was bullied at school, and throughout his youth, every day seemed like a struggle.

Now an adult, Rob’s number one goal is to make sure that his young daughter never has to experience the poverty and loneliness he felt in his youth.

On December 14, 2012, Jeremy Richman’s daughter, Avielle, a student at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, was murdered alongside 19 classmates and six adult staff members.

In the aftermath of Avielle’s tragic death, Jeremy and his wife, both scientists, started The Avielle Foundation, an organization created to study the neurological issues that lead to violence and encourage people to act compassionately.
