Prior to a Tough Mudder, Mudders are faced with a plethora of mind-boggling gear dilemmas. Glasses or contacts? T-shirt and shorts or compression gear? The Pippi Longstocking leggings or the ass-less chaps?

When Ryan Atkins told the border control officer his reason for entering into the US from Canada in mid-November, the officer noted that Raceway Park, host of World's Toughest Mudder 2013, was a common calling for crossing Canadians that day. This month, there’s little doubt Mudders put the May in mayhem. From the sunshine of Central Texas to the side-winding trails of Topeka; midway madness in Chicago to one of the muddiest Mudders in history in Ohio, a brave new wave of Mudders was initiated into Mudder Legion.

We promised the winner a flight, hotel stay and entry to Tough Mudder Whistler 2015. In training for a Tough Mudder, most people execute their extreme workouts in gyms. Others take a more hands-on approach—hitting the great outdoors and channeling their inner animal. One Mudder, however, takes animalistic training to a whole new level.

Meet 24-year-old safari park keeper and future Tough Mudder Scotland finisher Graeme Alexander, practitioner of quite possibly the world’s ‘wildest’ workout routine. So with whom and where does Graeme train? With Rhinos. At a safari park. In Scotland.

Out of dozens of venues she’s masterminded into meccas of mud-coated madness, Tall Pines ATV Park, home of Tough Mudder Upstate New York, is arguably home to more Mudder memories than any other course.
