After her mother passed away from breast cancer, Chelsea Campbell, only a junior in high school, was called upon to take care of her mentally and physically handicapped sister, Alexis.

In a time when nothing in life seemed secure, the support of her local firehouse was the one constant in her life. So when the time came to rally a team for Tough Mudder 2015, choosing teammates for her dream team was a no brainer.

Last season, we tested one obstacle called Dark Lightning on a few Tough Mudder courses. Part Boa Constrictor, part Electric Eel, the obstacle required Mudders to army crawl through water while live electric wires dangled over them...in pitch darkness.

Due to the absurdity of attempting such an obstacle in complete darkness, we pulled it from our course catalogue.

When he was a child, Rob Leboy remembers walking the neighborhood collecting cans with his grandfather, so they could afford to buy bread. The hardships Rob faced as a child weren’t just financial, however. Because of his low-income status, Rob was bullied at school, and throughout his youth, every day seemed like a struggle.

As we grow older, we remind ourselves that “age is only a number” more and more frequently. However, few of us actually put this mantra into action. Joe Perry is one of these few.
