3 Simple Rules For Making Your Tough Mudder Team Stand Out

When you take on Tough Mudder, you’ll be joined by a horde of other people covered head to toe in mud. If you really want to make your team stand out, here are three simple rules you need to follow.

Dress up in costumes

Nothing turns heads out on the course like an impressive costume does. And if you and your team really want to stand out on the big day, then costumes are definitely the way to go.

Depending on the size of your team, why not plan a group costume theme? You’ll find that a collective uniform will really cement the bond you share with your comrades out on the course. Your team could become Superheroes for the day, transform into the cast of Game of Thrones, morph into Power Rangers, or maybe you Wannabe the Spice Girls… the possibilities are endless. One legendary Mudder even took on the course dressed in an inflatable T-Rex costume.

Yes they will get muddy and we can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to wear them to your next costume party, but it will be worth it while your team take on the course and your efforts are sure to put a smile on the faces of your fellow Mudders.

Imagine you’re plotting your way up Pyramid Scheme and a group dressed as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles helps you reach the top. That’s a story you’d tell your buddies about. A great group costume is sure to get your team remembered long after all the mud has been washed off.

Fundraise

Another way you can make sure your team stands out is by fundraising. Raising money for a cause you all care about and are willing to put your bodies on the line for is pretty amazing.

Especially when paired with the first rule (dressing up in a costume), taking on Tough Mudder for a charity really gets people talking and raises awareness of your chosen cause. Sharing the goal of raising as much money as you can will also unify your team and make it even stronger.

When you’re lying face down in mud wondering how you’ve found yourself there, thinking about the charity you’re helping, the people who have donated and the teammates you’re running alongside will give you a reason to carry on and make your achievement even more meaningful.

Train together

Sure you could turn up on the day and try to get around the course. But putting in the hours beforehand with your team will not only strengthen your bond and respect for one another but also improve your communication – which will only be an asset to your fellow Mudders once you’re out on the course. Training together is also great for your motivation levels and your commitment to your training.

Your team will forge lots of other friendships out on the course too, as you all move through the obstacles like a well-oiled machine, helping fellow Mudders as you go.

You could even recite the Tough Mudder pledge with your team before you start training to really get you in the right frame of mind for taking on the challenge. Altogether now…

Tough Mudder is not a race but a challenge.
I put teamwork and camaraderie before my course time.
I do not whine, kids whine.
I help my fellow Mudders complete the course.
I overcome all fears.
