The atmosphere, the adrenalin, the people, the 20+ obstacles. Electric shocks, barbed wire, iced water, and monkey bars are just another day’s (or dawn’s) work for a Mudder like yourself.
But Funky Monkey, Snot Rocket, and Stage 5 Clinger could be just the cherry on the cake of your Tough Mudder. Check out 6 ways to make your Mudder even sweeter.
1. Do it for charity
Make your Mudder extra special by running for charity. When you’re facing Balls To The Wall and thinking “Why Coach, why?”, remembering your fundraising efforts will make grabbing hold of the rope and shimmying your way back to mud-level wayy easier. Plus, you’ll feel amazing about it.
Better yet, your fan club will be huge. Not only will your chosen charity be championing your every move, but TMHQ be cheering you on from the sidelines too.
2. Dress to impress
Go all out. The louder the costume, the better. Tough Mudder has a habit of unleashing a person’s alter ego. If dressing as the Pink Panther will get you over Berlin Walls, do what you gotta do. If ponying up in a Tinkerbell get up will help you fly through King of Swingers, we get it. Fearlessness looks awesome in a pink tutu.
Plus, if you’re fundraising for your Tough Mudder, fancy dress is a no brainer. It really gets people digging deep and donating.
(We’ve got some costume inspo here).
3. Call in the troops
Behind every great Mudder is a badass team. Arctic Enema is pretty cool, but it’ll be your Mudder buddies that you make cozying up in Birth Canal worth every cent.
Recruit members who aren’t afraid to get their hands (arms, legs, toes, and faces…) dirty and who’ll have you smiling, whatever the obstacle.
4. Make an event of it.
Birthday coming up? Get everyone down for a Tough Mudder. If you’re running for charity, ask friends and family to donate to the cause as a birthday present. It’s a nice way to bump up your fundraising total.
Impending bachelor party? Rally the squad for a day of sweat, mud, and hollering. Athletes wrestling in mud…What more could you ask for before tying the knot?
5. Prepare wisely
While teamwork plays a huge part of your day, to really make the most of your Mudder, book some sweat-sessions and build-up the strength you need to get through the course without a hiccup.
Download The Official Tough Mudder Training Plan, pick your poison, organize the clan, and get your pre-race grind on. When race day comes, you’ll be glad for all those extra push-ups and burpees.
6. Get inked
Over 10,000 participants have gotten inked to celebrate their time on the Tough Mudder course. We’ve seen the TM logo emblazoned on biceps, our pledge scribed on shoulder blades… It’s a fun way to make your Mudder memories last a lifetime.
(Already Inked with a TM tat? You might be able to get free entry into your next race).
