Four Reasons Why Being a Tough Mudder Volunteer is Awesome

Our Volunteers are called MVPs because they are the driving force behind our team on event day. As part of Probably the Best Team on the Planet our MVPs get to experience a variety of roles, from helping Mudders out of Mud Mile 2.0 to crowning them with hard earned headbands – no two roles, or even events, are the same.

MVP’s get some pretty sweet perks too:

  • Up to 90% off on your Tough Mudder or Tough Mudder Half ticket. So, if you volunteer for a full shift, you run for $20 – pretty awesome, right?
  • Exclusive orange volunteer t-shirt and hat
  • Breakfast and/or lunch (depending on shift)
  • Free parking for the duration of your shift

We caught up with some of our current MVPs to find out their favorite things about being a Tough Mudder volunteer:

Name: Kelly & Erin Karleen

Location: Whistler, Canada

Do you have a favorite volunteering role? Kelly – My favorite role is the finish line. Erin – My favorite role is the Course but most memorable was the finish line.

If you had to sum up being an MVP in 3 words – what would they be? Kelly “To summarize my expierence as an MVP in 3 words, I would say, ‘Where I belong’.” and Erin “Motivational, camaraderie, therapeutic”.

Name: Adam Needham

Location: Leeds, Yorkshire, U.K.

What’s the best thing about being an MVP: Everything. The mud, the hugs, the crowning of mudders, encouraging others, being there to support everyone, and just the fun and all the excitement.

What’s your favourite volunteer role? I don’t have a favorite role. Any role I get is amazing, as you’re there to show support to your mudder brothers and sisters.

Name: Sarah Van Noort

Location: Redding, California

What’s the best thing about being an MVP? I have to say that the best thing about volunteering is everything! I love getting to meet new people and getting to cheer and encourage other mudders on.

If you had to sum up being an MVP in 3 words – what would they be? It’s very hard to sum up being an MVP in 3 words, but I’ll try. Amazing, joyful, and family. Mainly family, because volunteers and mudders are one very big family.
