This May, we’re supporting Mental Health Awareness Month.
At Tough Mudder, we believe that repairing the inside has just as much to do with the outside. That means staying active, prioritizing movement and getting outside. And it’s not just about hitting the gym and setting a PR – it’s all about small lifestyle adjustments, like taking a stroll in the park or simply taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Turns out, physical fitness can be a real game-changer for our mental well-being, helping us shake off life’s pressures and decreasing stress on the brain. Science backs this up too.
So, let’s lace up those trainers, hit the pavement and join the conversation about mental health this month.
Here are six ways to prioritize your mental health during Mental Health Awareness Month:
- Get started:
So overwhelmed you can’t decide where to begin? Claim the Tough Mudder start line as your starting point. In 2024, do something for yourself. Our favorite form of self care = an obstacle course covered in mud. Commit to a challenge that will help you escape the ordinary, challenge yourself and leave you feeling stronger, braver and more fulfilled than when you arrived. - Connect with others:
Go to a workout class and connect with a stranger or take on a Tough Mudder and witness the unwavering support of Mudder Nation – always there for you, whether it’s a helping hand on Everest, a flip over Block Ness Monster or a boost on Berlin Walls. - Spend time in nature/Move more:
A little fresh air goes a long way. Immerse yourself in nature and embrace Tough Mudder’s single-track trails as you take in the scenic views of destinations around the globe. Don’t be intimidated – it’s as easy as trying to spend +1 or +5 minutes moving or outdoors. Each time you go, try to build your time up and move a little more. - Find your next healthy addiction:
There’s a reason the Tough Mudder community is so widespread and unique: we thrive on teamwork and camaraderie – and that’s what makes us stand out. No Mudder is ever left alone.

It may take a little pre-planning, but why not get creative with your routes? To acknowledge Mental Health Awareness Month, complete your run, share it with us on Instagram using the #TMMHAM24 and you could be randomly selected to win a prize. *There are plenty of apps like Strava, that can help you track your runs / routes.
