What is Tough Mudder?

Tough Mudder hosts world-class obstacle course events and races with distances ranging from 5K to 100 Miles, packed with legendary obstacles. We provide the tools to help you reach goals and events to live out unforgettable experiences. Our mission: to grow Mudder Nation into a Global Tribe that lives courage, personal accomplishment, teamwork, and fun.

How long is the Tough Mudder course? How far is a 5K?

How long will it take?

The average finish time for a Tough Mudder 5K is 1-2 hours; for Tough Mudder Classic it’s 3.5-4 hours. That said, Tough Mudder 5K and Tough Mudder Classic and aren’t timed races, so your team can go at its own pace. And how long an event will take you depends on your level of fitness, your experience, and whether or not you’ve been training. (Notsomuch? Download our free training guides.)

How hard is a Tough Mudder?

Tackling a Tough Mudder is a different challenge for everyone, whether you’re taking on the 5K or going for the Classic. Tough Mudder events are designed to test your all-around fitness, but that alone won’t get you through—you’ll also need mental endurance to overcome the obstacles and complete the course. Our free training guides can help you get started.

How much running is there in a Tough Mudder?

That depends on your event: Tough Mudder 5K is 3 miles long, while Tough Mudder Classic is one 8-10 mile loop, depending on the event location. But any all-out sprinting (or jogging...or walking…these events aren’t timed, you can go at your own pace) will be broken up by our world-class obstacles. Want to raise your running game? Our expert running tips will help you kick butt between obstacles.

Can you do Tough Mudder alone? Do I need a team?

You’ll need help from your fellow Mudders to conquer some of Tough Mudder’s most insane obstacles, but you DON’T need a team to register for a Tough Mudder event, thanks to our new Solo Runner Waves. Just register, then follow the instructions to “join a team” and search for “Solo Runners".

I need to change my start time; how do I do this?

All participants can move their start time back to a later scheduled start time, as long as you start by the last start wave of the day (this can be found in the Participant Information Packet located on the specific event page) and you’re already registered for that day.

I would like to change my start time to earlier; how do I do this?

We do our best to accommodate all morning preferences that are set, but it’s not always possible. If you arrive at the event early, you may visit the Info Tent to request an earlier start time, but this is not a guarantee. You are also welcome to purchase the Tougher or First Mud Add On (for Saturday participants only) to guarantee the first start wave of the day.

My start time is different than that of my team; what do I do?

To start with your team, please head to the Info tent when you arrive onsite. They will determine if you should wait in the Standby Area, or can run at your team’s allotted time.

I’m having issues with my ticket (registration, transfer, etc.)
