We’ve officially relocated the Tough Mudder Chicago weekend to a brand-new playground: Richardson Adventure Farm. Honestly, it’s about time. A place famous for having the world’s largest corn maze seems like the perfect spot to get lost, covered in silt, and questioned by your more sensible relatives. It’s an hour from Chicago and about the same from Milwaukee, so no excuses about the drive.
Just like Chicago’s iconic skyline, this course will rise to the occasion with miles of muddy mayhem. Don’t let those brief but glorious Chicago summer days slip away without sneaking in some good, not-so-clean fun. Keep reading to see what Chicago has in store for you.
The Dirty Details
- Date: August 29, 2026
- Venue: Richardson Adventure Farm, 909 English Prairie Rd, Spring Grove, IL 60081
- Location: 1hr 15min from Chicago, 1 hour 10mins from Milwaukee
- Distance: 5K, 15K, Tough Mudder Infinity (8 hours)
Meet Your Muddy Match

The Terrain: Unlike the flat airport tarmac, Richardson Adventure Farm actually has some character. This place has been around since 1836, so the dirt is seasoned. Expect rolling farm fields, wooded trails, and actual mud, the kind that turns into the glorious, soul-crushing sludge you signed up for.
The Vibe: It’s a farm. It’s an “Adventure Farm,” in fact. They usually have pig races and giant slides here; we’re just swapping the pigs for Mudders and the slides for… well, slightly more electric slides.
The Distance: We’re still bringing the 5K, 15K, and the 8-hour Infinity session. It’s just that now, instead of dodging planes, you’ll be dodging the realization that you haven’t done enough hill sprints.
Don’t Stop the Party There…

Once you’ve earned that headband and scrubbed most of the farm off your face, don’t just bolt for the highway. Stick around for a finisher brew, then head into Spring Grove or nearby McHenry to keep the banter going. Or, since you’re already at an adventure farm, go find a giant slide. You know you want to.
There’s also so many things to do in Chicago, we suggest taking a food tour, catching a Cubs game, or kayaking the Chicago river.
