What is World’s Toughest Mudder?

World’s Toughest Mudder is an extreme 24 hour obstacle course race. When we say ‘extreme,’ we mean pulse-pounding, heart stopping EXTREME. Up to 1,500 participants attend this event which is held only once a year. Oh and did we forget to mention there is prize money to be won at the end?

This year the event took place in Atmore, Alabama which is an hour outside Pensacola, Florida where we held our incredible famous brunch for all participants & volunteers.

You had me at brunch...

Yeah, we thought we would. This is not just any ordinary brunch – this is the “World’s Toughest Brunch.” Most participants from the event attend the final hurrah, ending the weekend celebrating with awards, prizes, eating, drinking, and basking in the Mudder experience.

Obstacle Innovations

We got to witness some new obstacle Innovations at World’s Toughest Mudder 2022. Here are a few of our favorites from the event.

Drum roll please…

Just Chute Me

Climb up the front of Mudderhorn, freefall slide down the back into a pool of water. This was quite the fan favorite.

Chunky Monkey

An angled monkey-bar climb over a water pit, utilizing hanging tires and banana-shaped climbing grips on the ascent, with monkey bars on the descent.

Double Rainbow (basically Well Swung on steroids)

Double Rainbow is Well Swung’s older brother obstacle. Participants jump from the edge of a water pit onto two consecutive swing arms with the objective of hitting a hanging bell

Coach’s Corner

An enclosed two-chamber structure that must be navigated through. The main chamber is filled with smoke and contains a series of impediments including inflatable walls, bungee cords, and menthol. The lower chamber consists of a smoke-filled crawl space, filled with a range of obstacles and blockers to prevent forward progress. The chambers may alternately open and close throughout the event.

Spice up your life

Our Mudders had the choice to earn the right to skip 2 obstacles.

The Rules: If you pull a card between 2-10 you have to eat a jalapeño, If you pick Joker you get a sweet pepper, and a Jack to an Ace you have to have a habanero chili pepper.

Hall of Fame

Mike Mussard (our rock of the Mudder community) was awarded and made it to our “Hall of Fame” for volunteering over 100 Tough Mudder shifts. Thanks for being such a champ, Mike!
