This event is what I call a “gamble” every year. Anything can happen to the body and mind at any moment. The key to success is how well you can control the unknowns and push the boundaries.
It was cold this year, and the way Tough Mudder set up the rolling open obstacles this year was definitely a shock to the body by the time they all opened after I was 50 miles into the race. I pushed and tried to stay as consistent as possible. I know the game, I’ve been running this race many years now and have learned what the body and mind need to continue pushing through the pains and shivers. It got very cold, and it definitely changed the dynamics of the way my body was able to move to and try to keep up with what I mentally wanted. I went through some dark moments but in those dark moments, I knew what my purpose was out there and what I was there for and who I am as a person. “I will go the full 24 hours and if I end up with 95 or 100 miles, I’m extremely happy with my performance and leaving my soul behind on course.” Many folks weren’t able to keep up with the process and bowed out early. Training, knowing your body, the environment, and what your success looks like at the end, gets you to the finish.
I’m proud of my fellow competitors and what they each completed. Thank you TMHQ for the amazing event, as always. Thank you Coach, Clinton, Sean, and Jason for being up with us all night either DJing or being there at the finish/start line lap after lap. Thank you elliot.rueb and kelsee_montagna for all of the help and support. Couldn’t do this without a solid crew to keep me on track.
Thank you natashavdm81 for your coaching wisdom and expertise throughout the year (we still have work to do for 160 mile snow sled pull in December 🤫)
I am just in complete awe of you Greg James iamgreg_james 😍 . Over the weekend, Greg ran his third Worlds Toughest Mudder, a 24 hr run and obstacle race, while it was my first time pitting for him, being his crew and support system throughout the race. The course was a 5 mile loop with 20+ obstacles in the Texas heat, starting at 12pm Saturday and going to 12pm Sunday . It was quite an experience for both of us. Greg was cruising and after each lap, came back to me in the quickpit with a smile on his face, spirits still high. We made sure he had nutrition, any gear he needed, and we sent him back out . Overnight, temperatures dropped, calories were expended, and he came back to me mentally and physically worn out. It would make anyone quit right then and there and call it a night. But not Greg. He is the most mentally strong and tough people i know. We gave him what he needed, some warmth, lots of calories, and he got back on his feet and out there in the dark and cold for 2 more laps! He won in that moment. In the moment where his body was spent, his mental strength wearing out, he got up and finished what he started . He was one of the last on the course, and i even went out there to finish his last lap with him (second slide) running across the finish line with him was a moment of pure elation and accomplishment for him, and for me to be able to support him throughout the whole night and watch him cross the finish . Greg, you are a superhuman. You inspired everyone out there with your persistence and tenacity, even when you had every reason to quit. You succeeded by pushing through and you and I both came out stronger on the other side, as individuals and as partners, learning from each other and the experience itself . Proud is an understatement. I am honored and humbled to be by your side and to have supported you through this race. This is just the beginning of all you are going to accomplish, and i know you will use this experience to inspire everyone around you . Give iamgreg_james a huge congratulations for crushing WTM 2023! . I love you baby 😘 . . #proudgirlfriend #proudcoach #worldstoughestmudder #ultraracing #ultrarunner #ultramarathon #wtm2023...
You know you love racing when you have your butt handed to you, then 12 hours later you`re already making plans for the next one😂 . I`ve cried a lot this year, but I`ve laughed more. Thank you to the friends who ran with me, pushed me over obstacles (especially channing_chernoff for not letting go of my hand on pyramid scheme) for the kind words of encouragement through some difficult months this summer, and pretty much every day since. Thank you for being such good people and sharing your experiences❤ Best part of WTM was watching tysonp39_superman_ and his team at the cliff on their last lap. You all made my heart explode. Thank youuuuuu!! #worldstoughestmudder #wtm17 . . thank you thenomadicrunner for taking on three of my longest races and never chucking me😂😂 love you, Aussie!!! #tether #wtm18...
60+ miles, 24 hours, 200+ obstacles. World’s Toughest Mudder was no joke. Huge thank you to the amazing pit crew and impressive athletes I was lucky enough to be with. Could not have done it without you all. It was an incredible experience and what an amazing event!
We`re 5 months out from #WorldsToughestMudder, the most extreme, insane, pulse-pounding, heart-stopping 24-hour obstacle course challenge on the planet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don`t forget to tune in for the Tougher Mudder West Championship going down in #Whistler this weekend. 🏆...
Thanks, saseefeldt, for these amazing photos of my #WorldsToughestMudder experience. The second is utterly hilarious, of me peering over the edge of my obstacle nemesis #TheCliff, mentally preparing myself to jump. I’m sure those camera men thoroughly enjoyed my moment of terror 😜. The first photo perfectly sums up what an unforgettable time I had during 24hrs of “funishment,” on maybe the most grueling course #WTM has seen yet.
I battled through a pretty dark mental space when I’d finished 4hrs and a marathon of racing, and realized I still had 20hrs to go. But around hr 10, I pulled out of this, telling myself if I could just get to hr 12 then it was just an 8hr #ToughestMudder race until I could claim my 24hr headband and it would all be over. After that I had a blast. Around 1am my body started shutting down on me. I WANTED to keep running, and kept trying, but my ankle dorsiflexion muscles (#floppyfeet) and some cramping had other plans (I have SUCH #kankles today😂). Finally I was forced to a walk, which gradually got slower and more haggard. I managed to hold 2nd place until just before sunrise. Then 8am rolled around and I found myself in 3rd place, so I kept going to defend my spot. On my second last lap I was passed by 3 ladies, moving me back to 6th place, but by then I was pretty determined to finish one more lap, which would take me to the 24hr mark and get me a 75 mile bib. I may not have kept my podium spot, but I don’t care about that one bit since I reached all my personal goals. I kept moving as fast as I could out there the whole time, did the cliff jump every lap but my last, and finished the full 24hrs. I completed 75 miles/120km (140 according to my GPS watch; darn you obstacle penalties!). I couldn’t have done it without both my families (Webster and Atkins!) out there to be the #WorldsToughestPitCrew, along with lilmissginae (also basically family😊❤️). It meant the world to have you out there supporting me through all my darkest and sunniest hours....
"If taking oneself seriously as a woman means committing to a life of grooming, pumicing, pruning and polishing one`s exteriors for the benefit of onlookers then I may as well leave my unwieldy rucksack to the top of a bleak Scottish hill and make my home there under a stone, where I`ll fashion shoes out of mud and clothes out of leaves". ~Miranda Heart. -------------------------------- Oh man, I am obsessed with this quote. Don`t get me wrong I do love to dress nice and look pretty but my spirit is most at home covered in sweat and dirt on a mountain top. #flashbackfriday to possibly my all time favorite racing shot. This is from #toughmudder Kentucky 2012. TM doesn`t keep time but I ended up first place overall female and raced alongside my studley husband and brother-in-law. It was freezing and there was so much icy water and mud but we had the time of our lives, fluid team work, laughed a ton and moved quickly through obstacles together. We were a bit slap-happy as we had driven to Kentucky through the night and got about 2 hours of sleep in our car before the race . We were training for #worldstoughestmudder and wanted to practice racing while sleep deprived 😂😬. To top it off, once we completed the 13 mile course, we crossed the finish line and did 200 Burpees 😳. I would like to get my strength back to that place in 2017. Today I am headed to Cross Country Junior Olympics Regionals in Illinois with my team. I`m lucky enough to coach a great group of kids who are really hoping to qualify for Nationals. Send these hard-working kids fast racing vibes if you can please! Happy weekend! #ilovetorun #muddy #ocr #crosscountry...
I’m still in disbelief. There is no way I could have accomplished this with out the most incredible people in my corner. diryen2, randimoose and elliot.rueb, I wasn’t even your first responsibility, and yet you took such good care of me. Even when I got sassy at mile 45, you put up with me. Thank you for caring for me and pushing me beyond my limits, but most importantly, thank you for believing in me and making me get back out there and keep moving for all 25 hours. Y’all are my super heroes!
viking_ocr , thank you for answering every phone call and enduring all my endless questions about training. You’ve been there and have pushed me every single race this year, and have been so supportive. I can’t thank you enough and I’m beyond proud of you and what you have accomplished this year! So many more races and miles to come!!

The road to my 6th World’s Toughest Mudder is about to reach it’s conclusion. September and early October were filled with huge efforts between training and racing which had my confidence and endurance at an all time high.
I switched focus after Tesla Hertz 100 to get my gym ready for my clients and I by daylight savings time. I was successful in that goal but I had to scale back on training. That decision is weighing heavily on my confidence for 75 miles.
Every free moment during the past 4-5 weeks have been spent demoing, building, moving, buying equipment and cleaning these two trailers which I can proudly say is the atlas_endurance_training dungeon.
All my work for 75 miles at WTM has been put in. We will see if it was enough 💀💀💀

Just landed in Mudlanta for WTM (this is obvi a pic from last year). It’s going to be a very long and muddy weekend full of mud, Waffle House, caffeine, and some more mud. It’s gonna be a good time! Good luck to everyone taking on the course! #ToughMudder #WorldsToughestMudder #Atlanta...
Headed out to the Jordan Bridge for some running after work! The point of these long slow runs is to keep my heart rate in the “green” zone or aerobic building zone. This is extremely difficult for me to do without taking liberal walk breaks. Kinda makes me feel like I’m not working that hard? Idk.
I know there’s a point to all this and I’m sure there’s science behind it but heart rate training isn’t something I’ve really done before. I’m just not a super huge fan of running really slow lol.
Anyone else out there do heart rate training? Can someone explain how this makes you run faster again? 😂😂
Today I run Worlds Toughest Mudder. I’ve waited 2 years. I’ve trained so hard and endless hours of training. I pray my body is good to me today. I having the strength of the Tough Mudder Community to guide me along the way. I’m greatful for this moment. Special thanks to my coach Allison Tai ❤️ all my friends and family. You will all be with me today . #worldstoughestmudder...

W.T.M Vegas Training!💪 Worlds Toughest Mudder is only months away! Very excited to endure so much pain in one day hah. This obstacle course is 24 hours long. And to even place at this competition you have to achieve more than 50 miles of running and obstacles designed by British Special Forces. My team mate and brother jimmy_jo_jack have completed two tough mudders together so I know we`re gonna knock this one out with hard work oh and possibly instapic81 and johnnyv82 are gonna get recruited too. They just don`t know it yet! And best know my strength wraps will be on to support my wrist on every obstacle! strengthwraps follow them and check STRENGTHWRAPS.COM you can see me rocking there wraps in every video for one reason they are Amazin! #toughmudder #wtm #worldstoughestmudder #training #strengthwraps...
Rea Kolbl, our super talented ambassador, won last weekend’s World’s Toughest Mudder for the second year straight. $10,000 in the bank for her win and a symbolic victory for coming back from a very frustrating mid-summer injury. merrell crusher kdoza04 won the men’s event, wearing at times a UD vest, belt and our new FK Gaiters. Congratulations, Rea and Kris! #worldstoughestmudder — photo: bunsak83...
During my first 24hr race I had strategized running together with markgaudet85 in order to distract myself from the miles that lay ahead and take the pressure off. But as time went on I became more accustomed to it and wasn`t necessarily running my own race anymore. Eventually I called it quits before turning it into an actual race. Overall I think this was a good race strategy however it would have been better to have split off earlier and do my own thing.
So instead tomorrow I`ll be running my own race with a personal goal of hitting 100 (or more) miles. Not sure what the competition will look like but I`m not worried about it. Just gonna do me and run the race to the best of my ability! #worldstoughestmudder #ultrarunning...
Was in Atmore, Alabama for my 10th World’s Toughest Mudder this past weekend. Fun race with lots of fun obstacles and I finished at 10am with 60 miles. I still felt good to run another lap or two when I stopped but with the drive back to NJ looming I called it there and hit the road. #wtm #wtm2022 #WorldsToughestMudder #WorldsToughestMudder2022 #ToughMudder #t1dathlete...

This was a unforgettable experience… I never in my life thought I’d ever do something that pushed my limits the way I just did at The Worlds Toughest Mudder a 24 hour race!
As you can see on my race bib I ran for my brother Austin (that’s why I’m kissing my bib when I finished) that I lost a month ago but I didn’t only run for him I also ran for EVERY person dealing with mental health and this month just so happened to be Men’s Mental Health Month so I also wrote that on my bib. Austin was with me on every step of this race and I’m getting chills just thinking about it… Miss you brother and thank you for keeping me moving during those dark hours I wanted to quit🙏🏽
Race results: Finished with 60 miles!! Finished 2nd place in my age group Finished 25th overall
I am so proud of my results for this being my first ever endurance race! Thank you toughmudder and a thank you to my running partners anyonecangetit_fitness and John! WHAT YOU EARN
(IN ADDITION TO BRAGGING RIGHTS)
Finisher Medals
With each Tough Mudder 2024 course shaping up to be even more challenging than in years past, we had to bestow each Mudder with an accolade that was equally worthy of accomplishing such a feat. Complete the course and wear this finisher medal with pride. Are you the collector type? We thought so. Take on more mud, earn more unique medals.
Finisher Shirt
The harsh reality of having a favorite shirt is that it’s usually the garment that suffers the most abuse. Whether you’ve dragged it through the mud one too many times or prematurely cut the sleeves off, chances are you miss the luster of when it was crisp and new. Cross the finish line in 2024 to earn your Tough Mudder finisher tee.
Finisher Headband
Each iconic orange headband symbolizes a badge of honor – crowned upon only the toughest of Mudders – for overcoming intense obstacles, exhibiting extreme mental stamina, and demonstrating unrivaled teamwork & camaraderie. Cross the finish line in 2024 to earn yours.
Finisher Drink
Work hard, celebrate harder. Cross the finish line and earn your free finisher beer or seltzer. You deserve it.
Parking & Bag Drop
Prepay your parking and bag drop fees during check out – taking the hassle out of event day logistics.
